Our village
Trojanovice
Trojanovice is a foothill beekeeping village. It lies at an altitude of 550 meters above sea level. It was founded in 1748 by the Olomouc bishop and cardinal Ferdinand Julius Troyer. The area of the village is 3583 hectares. It extends under the massifs of Noříčí hora, Radhoště and Velký Javorník.
The village currently has around 2,600 inhabitants and has become an important tourist destination in the foothills of the Moravian-Silesian Beskydy. It has several bell towers and a monument to the Strnadl brothers and Jan Knebl. The monument features historical costumes, sculptures by Jan Knebl and the Wallachian nativity scene from 1930 by Josef Knězek. Trojanovice has its own nature trail named after the local native and wartime resistance fighter Ludvík Šablatura.
The ski jumping complex of Jiří Raška is worth seeing.
You will also be charmed by the modern Na Lomné village square in the middle of Trojanovice with shops, a butcher's shop and a café.
Following the footsteps of the peak
Pustevny a Radhošť
Pustevny is a protected landscape area covering an area of 1,160 km2. It is named after the hermits who used to live in this remote place. A cable car will take you to the Pustevny ridge. It is 1.8 km from the guesthouse. It is the first chairlift in Europe. You can also complete the entire route on foot. Start your views on the Valašsce Trail. The trail is 660 meters long with the highest sky walk and the longest Himalayan walkway. On the way back, turn to the Sea Eye, a natural biotope where you will see frogs, salamanders and other inhabitants of forest pools.
You should not forget to visit the Libušín restaurant and the Maměnka hotel. Both buildings are the work of Slovak architect Dušan Jurkovič. The buildings are national monuments. In 2014, there was a major fire in Libušín, which completely burned down and was rebuilt from the ground up according to the original plans.
Go further, you will come across the statue of Radegast. Radegast is the Slavic god of harvest, abundance and hospitality, but also of the sun and fire. The author of the statue is Albín Polášek. You can find a copy of it in Pustevny. The original is kept in the town hall in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm.
On the ridge you can have refreshments in several mountain restaurants and kiosks. You will taste Wallachian frgály, mead, plum brandy and other specialties that are typical of our region. At the end of the ridge you will find Radhošť. There is a transmitter and the chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius on it. The chapel is the highest church building in the Czech Republic.
Along the entire route, which is approximately 4.2 km long, you will be offered unique views of the valley. On the right hand side is the area of Trojanovice, Frenštát pod Radhoštěm, Kopřivnice, Ostrava and Frýdek-Místek. On the left hand side you will see the valleys around Dolní, Prostřední and Horní Bečva.
However, Pustevny and its contiguous areas hide other pleasant trails that are not as touristic, but are worth exploring. One of them is the cascades on the Radhošťský stream, visible after rain, and the walking circuit just below the peak of Noříčí hora.
Get some clean spring water from the well near the monument to Josef Šmajstrla.
Velký Javorník

Velký Javorník is the highest point of the Veřovické vrchy at 918 meters above sea level. The mountain is a frequently visited tourist destination. The most common starting routes lead from Trojanovice via the Pindula saddle, from Frenštát pod Radhoštěm, from Rožnov pod Radhoštěm and also from Veřovice. The shortest route, which takes just over an hour, leads along unmarked routes from Trojanovice pod Javorník from the Bonanza stables.
A tourist hut has been standing on the top of Velký Javorník since 1935, which is open all year round. Since 2013, a wooden observation tower has also been built here. It offers a view of the wide surroundings. In good weather, you can see the Ostrava region, the Oderské vrchy and even the Jeseníky Mountains.
Of course, there are views of the Beskydy peaks - Lysá hora, Smrk, Radhošť, Ondřejník, Kněhyně, Nořičí, Palkovické hůrky, Červený kámen, Kotouč and the valley of the Frenštát basin.
On the northwestern slopes of Velký Javorník there is the Velký Kámen reserve. Rock walls and large boulders are hidden in the beech forests.
Lysá hora
Lysá hora is the highest peak of the Moravian-Silesian Beskydy. That is why it is also called the Queen of the Beskydy. The peak of the mountain is located at an altitude of 1,323 m above sea level, there is a television transmitter and a meteorological station on it and it represents an important crossroads of several tourist routes. Its foothills extend near the villages of Ostravice, Malenovice, Krásná and Staré Hamry.
It will offer you a unique view. At the same time, it is one of the coldest, rainiest and windiest places in the Czech Republic. The place is rich in snowfall. At the end of winter, there is usually up to 2 meters of snow cover here.
Lysá hora is accessible from the Ostravice railway station. The route from the station to the top is 6 km long. You can reach it on foot, by bike or by shuttle bus.
After the climb, you can have a snack at Bezručova chata or Tatranská vyhlídka, from where there is a beautiful view.
If you are an early bird and want an unusual experience, we recommend hiking to Lysá hora before sunrise.
Ondřejník
The most famous hiking trail to Ondřejník leads from Frýdlant nad Ostravicí and is 3.5 kilometers long. It is a popular excursion spot. Below the peak you will find the chapel of Saint Anthony of Padua.
This massif is an ideal place for hiking, cycling and family trips with a stroller. The peak of Skalka is the highest point with a height of 964 meters above sea level and is attractive for its view, while the lower northern peak of Ondřejník at an altitude of 890 meters hosts the Ondřejník log cabin.
Ondřejník offers traditional refreshments. You can taste korbačíky, cabbage soup, homemade potato pancakes, stuffed dumplings, potato dumplings filled with smoked meat and cabbage. For dessert, you can have Marlenka, which also comes from our region.

When the water roars through the meadows
Kaskády na Radhošťském potoce
On the northern slopes of the Pusteveny ridge, with a steady year-round flow rate of 25 liters per second, admire the cascades of the waterfall on the Radhošťský stream.
Head from Trojanovice from the Strnadl Brothers Memorial to the bus turntable. For an easy hike, continue along paved roads with a connection to the Radegast Circuit hiking and cycling trail.
For a more adventurous option, follow the path behind the bus turntable along the slope along the Radhošťský stream. Here you will wade to the other side of the bank and after a steep climb you will reach a contour line around 600 meters above sea level. On the way in the valley you will have a view of the stream bed with several small cascades. Continue along the hiking and cycling trail until you reach the waterfall. On the way back, the slopes will offer you views of the basin around Frenštát pod Radhoštěm.

Nový Jičín

Nový Jičín is a town of hats thanks to its famous hat production. The hat museum located there is not just for ladies. Men and children will also enjoy themselves. You can take home your own handmade hat as a souvenir.
The exhibition in the Žerotín Castle is also dedicated to hats. The town has its charm thanks to its regular square square with arcades and the historic Renaissance house Stará pošta.
A plaque on the building of the Hat Museum Visitor Center reminds us that the famous General Ernst Gideon Laudon died here in 1790. The general was one of the most famous military leaders of the 18th century. He served in the imperial service of Maria Theresa and Joseph II. A visit to Laudon's exhibition is interesting not only for adults but also for children. Here you can try on military equipment and try to shoot an interactive cannon. The exhibition hides a three-meter sound-activated diorama with more than 500 tin soldiers, which commemorates the Battle of Domašov. You can also see an equestrian sculpture with a life-size figure of the general. The sculpture boasts the title of being the largest Czech sculpture created using 3D printing.
The nearby extensive ruins of the Starý Jičín castle are also worth a visit.
A little further on lies the baroque Kunín chateau. The chateau's exhibition is created in memory of its owner, Maria Walburga, Countess of Truchsess-Waldburg-Zeil. František Palacký studied at her chateau school.
You can enjoy horses, the rare Wallachian sheep breed and other domestic animals at the Bludička family farm, where you can find a pretty decent country setting.
Kopřivnice

The town of Kopřivnice is important thanks to the automotive industry of the Tatra brand. Production dates back to 1850 and continues to this day. At one time, the car factory was also owned by the Ringhoffers. Passenger cars and trucks, even railway motor cars and aircraft were produced here. One of the unique motor cars for the railway is designated M 290, popularly called the Slovenská strela.
Approximately 60 original exhibits from the beginning of production await you in the car factory museum. It offers a tour of historical chassis, engines and period photographs.
Enjoy a pleasant trip. Go from the local swimming pool to the ruins of Šostýn Castle, via the Raškův kámen lookout, the Pískovna peak to the Brdy lookout tower.
Štramberk

The historic town of Štramberk is spread out on steep hills in the Libotín Hills in the foothills of the Beskydy Mountains. It will enchant you above all with its charming streets and wooden half-timbered houses from the 18th and 19th centuries. The town is rightly called the Wallachian Nativity Scene.
Štramberk Castle rises above the town with an adjacent tower known as Trúba.
You can have a drink in the town's mini-brewery right on the square and also in the castle courtyard in the Hrstkov Cottage from 1925. You can taste the famous Štramberk ears, which are prepared in many ways.
But Štramberk is not only Trúba. On the square you will find a mini-zoo with tropical reptiles, fish and lizards. There is also a museum of the renowned prehistoric painter Zdeněk Burian.
Head further to the Bílá Hora lookout tower. A tour of the old limestone quarry with an arboretum is worth seeing. Don't miss a visit to the medieval Šipka cave.
Frýdek-Místek
The town of Frýdek-Místek is located at the confluence of the Ostravice and Morávka rivers. The town used to form the border between Moravia and Silesia. Originally, they were two separate towns, the Moravian Místek from the 13th century and the later Silesian Frýdek from the 14th century. They were only merged in 1943. The monument zone consists of the squares in both Frýdek and Místek. You can visit the Frýdek Castle. This castle was originally a fortress that defended the border between what was then Moravia and Silesia. On U staré pošty Street, a clerk named Vladimír Vašek worked in the former post office. Can you guess which famous person this real name belongs to?
In addition to the historical centers of both original towns, Frýdek-Místek really has a lot to offer. In bad weather, relax in the Olešná aquapark. In the resort of the same name, you can play adventure golf, use the summer swimming pool, go fishing or surfing. For cycling and in-line skating enthusiasts, there is a 4.5-kilometer-long trail around the entire dam. By the way, thanks to the connection with the surrounding cycle paths, you can get from Frýdek-Místek to Trojanovice without any worries.
Do you like to snack on something good? Does Marlenka remind you of something? Yes, it does? You can find this honey kingdom in Frýdek-Místek on the street of the same name, Marlenka. Be sure to visit it. In addition to a walk through the production, you will find your own shop with countless goodies and your own café. Although - it is more of a dessert shop.
